What Does the Funeral Home Do?
What happens after someone dies? Under normal circumstances, a family member, friend, or the
facility where the death occurred will call the funeral home and give notification. We will then
bring the deceased to the funeral home. Followed by a meeting with the family in order to finalize
arrangements. This meeting may take place at either the funeral home or at any location of your choosing. During
this conference we will gather the necessary information for the death notice (obituary) as well
as the death certificate. We will also discuss what type of services will best fit your family's
needs, and appropriate merchandise (if needed) will be selected at this time. We offer caskets,
vaults, cremation urns and related funeral goods. Fischer Funeral Care will then coordinate
the visitation, funeral & burial (or cremation). Following the funeral, we will file insurance
benefits, veterans benefits, death certificates and notify Social Security on your behalf. At
Fischer Funeral Care the focus is on the care your family receives from us. [The series of events
following a death will vary. The information here is general and meant to give you some idea of
what to expect.]
Fischer Funeral Care Will:
- Come to your home to make arrangements
- Assist you in making sound decisions regarding your loved one’s services
- Ensure that no detail is overlooked
- Help you with pre-planning and pre-paying
Pre-Arranging A Funeral:
When it is practical or possible, making funeral arrangements in advance of need can provide the peace
of mind that all details have been taken care of in a way that is satisfying to one’s self and one’s
survivors. A family discussion combined with our counsel can assure that everyone involved feels
comfortable with the arrangements. Certainly we would all prefer that our loved ones be able to say
afterward "I’m glad we did" rather than "I wish we had". Pre-planning can help accomplish this goal.
Today, making any kind of funeral arrangements involves many choices and decisions. It is helpful
to consider all of the options and take time to ask questions before making final decisions about
such an important event. It is our intent to help make the entire experience as easy as possible.
If you have already completed funeral arrangements and pre-paid with another funeral home, Fischer
Funeral Care will honor, accept, and convert that account at ANY time and at no additional cost to you.
Pre-paying: You will benefit by setting up a pre-paid funeral. Pre-payment freezes the funeral home charges
at today’s prices. The money is placed into an insurance policy, which you own. You may pay in one
lump sum, or you can set up monthly payments: 12 months same as cash or 36, 60, or 120 monthly
premiums for lower monthly payments.
