Brenda Kullman Christian Solley, age 73, of Atlanta, passed away on August 1, 2020 at Sunrise Senior Living / Brighton Gardens of Buckhead in Atlanta. She was born on the 4th of July, 1947, in Decatur, Alabama, to Charles and Carolyn Bean Kullman. She had a large, extended family, with thirteen first cousins on her maternal side. When she was very young, she believed that the fireworks and the annual picnic, organized by her Granddaddy Bean, took place in celebration of her birthday.

Brenda always thought of life as an adventure and took her loved ones with her to enjoy the journey. She loved the chance to live in the Philippines as a newlywed, to visit in Germany with her (military) brother, or drive to her employer’s convention in Montreal just to see the scenery. She bred her Bichon Frise dogs, organized her employer’s sponsorship of the Atlanta Olympics, wrote a cookbook and drove to her granddaughter from Atlanta to San Diego. She enjoyed organizing family events and reunions, gardening, and quilting. She never forgot a face.

She retired from IHG (Intercontinental Hotels Group) headquarters in Atlanta in 2013 after 20 years of service. She was a long time member of All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody where in the early years of the church she organized gardens and designed Christmas decorations and later organized dances and Secret Santa. She served on the Board of Murphy Candler baseball and Village Mill swimming and contributed her time to Scouting and anything else her boys got involved with.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Tom Solley; sons, Matthew Christian (Corinne Wimberly Christian), of Atlanta, GA, and Russell Christian ( Laura Dege Christian) of Las Vegas, NV; three beloved granddaughters, Sage Colello of Tampa, FL, and Rinne, and Sawyer Christian of Atlanta; a sister, Margaret Kullman of Atlanta; and a sister-in-law, Linda Brown Kullman, of Springfield, VA.

A funeral Mass, celebration of life and interment in the Decatur City Cemetery, Decatur, AL will be scheduled when health and safety allow. At Brenda’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Marist School in Atlanta.

My heart aches to hear about Brenda. To Tom, Matt, and Russell - my deepest sympathies to all of you. She was so proud of her family and crazy about her grandchildren! Brenda was a sweet, beautiful friend and colleague for over 20 years. She was a hard worker, energetic, and full of life, and we always had fun working together at IHG. She was so tender and kind to everyone; she forgave quickly and never held a grudge. Brenda had a tireless desire to help others – always volunteering and organizing events at her church, in her community, and at work. After a tornado hit my neighborhood in 1998 in the middle of the night, Brenda was the first person at my door early the next morning with coffee and a hug. I'm so grateful Brenda was part of my life! She was a Godly woman, and I know she is rejoicing today in Heaven. ❤️

I know I share the sadness of Brenda’s loss with my IHG colleagues She truly exuded southern charm, even in the chaos of juggling all of our needs. I can remember visiting her home for a work event and she served only items made with Georgia Peaches. She presented each of us with family recipes so that we could recreate her magic I know her boys were the center of her life. She shared great stories - her pride in their accomplishments was immense We will all miss her

Brenda was my friend and colleague from literally my 1st day at IHG until my last 15 years later. She was the anchor of the Field Marketing team. Brenda was a beautiful human being who lived her faith; a Southern Lady who (almost) never had an unkind word about anyone. She was so proud of Matt and Russell, and loved to share their successes with us. The Persian poet Omar Khayyam wrote “ When your friend leaves you, do not grieve, for that which in her you do most admire will only be intensified in her absence.” May Brenda’s memory be for a blessing.

My sincerest condolences. Brenda was one special lady. I’ve known Brenda for nearly 40 years, first through All Saints, then later at IHG where we worked together for several years. Brenda had amazing capacity to care for everyone she came in contact with. She always made everyone feel special and was a constant source of light for all of us. She will be missed. God is so happy to have her join Him in His kingdom.
