    OBITUARY:
John B. “Jack” Connolly, age 80, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019 at his home in Dunwoody, GA with his family around him. He was born on September 1, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA to Thomas A. Connolly, Jr. and Suzanna Agnes (Flynn) Connolly. Jack went to West Catholic High School and graduated from St. Joseph’s University, both in Philadelphia. He married Constance Helen Boyle on August 10, 1963, and together they had six children. Jack worked in sales at 3M in both Philadelphia and Atlanta, as well as Town Motors in Exton, PA. He was a long-time parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Brookhaven, GA, a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and active in charities, including Birthright and Saint Vincent de Paul. Jack enjoyed ice cream, a bad pun, and was known for his optimistic demeanor; his coworkers having affectionately called him, “Mr. Fantastic.” During his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease, he maintained his positive attitude, telling everyone he was “wonderful” and always thanking the nurses and medical staff for their care. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Suzanna Connolly, his brother, Thomas J. Connolly, his sister, Mary Mauira, and grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Paulsen and Jamie Paulsen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Constance Connolly; his children, John Connolly (Lisa), Rosemary Connolly, Kathleen Flanagan (Stephen), Colleen Connolly (Sean Kinzie), Christine Connolly Daily (Greg), and Brian Connolly, a priest in the Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Sarah Paulsen Santamaria (Nick), Matthew Paulsen, Kevin Connolly, Patrick Connolly, Sean Connolly (Caroline Kopp), Maggie Connolly, Rory Connolly, Ciara Flanagan, Brendan Flanagan, Deidre Kinzie, Lydia Kinzie, and Leah Daily; and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Brookhaven, GA on Friday, July 26th at 11:00 a.m. The family will greet friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A reception celebrating his life will be held after the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a Catholic charity that offers person-to-person service to individuals in need, to honor Jack’s spiritual commitment and charitable work for the poor.
