Donna Lee Martin, wife of Howard C. Martin, died in Atlanta, GA on August 7, 2018 after a long history of heart disease. She was born Donna Lee Fenton, only child of Dr. Charles and Elma Fenton, on June 10, 1933, in Bloomfield, Davis Co., IA. She grew up in the community, attending grammar and high school locally. In 1951, having graduated valedictorian of her class, she enrolled in the University of Iowa School of Nursing. On December 21, 1952 Howard Martin and Miss Fenton were joined in marriage. They relocated to Atlanta, GA where Mr. Martin was employed as an architectural sales engineer with the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA). Mrs. Martin graduated from Emory University in 1956 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She practiced her profession for two years as a nurse with the Fulton County Public Health Department, Atlanta, GA. Two children were born of the union; H. Clay Martin, Jr., and Sharalyn Kay Martin Keith, both of whom survive. Other survivors are grandchildren, Trey and Meredith Martin, and Ava Keith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, in 1988. Interment of the ashes will be in the Marietta National Military Cemetery, Marietta, GA, where Howard is buried. I have vague, but very fond memories of both Howard and Lee from my early years, and of playing with Clay and Shara. The Martin family always brings a smile to my face. In recent years, I loved the contest Lee and I had to see whose Christmas letter would be the latest to arrive. What a great family! I will miss keeping up with you.

I will always cherish the friendship both Lee and Howard afforded me and I will never forget the wonderful times I had with them in Atlanta. May God bless the entire Martin family.

I remember the day this newly wed transfer from Iowa walked into my classroom at Emory. She quickly became a very good friend. It doesn't seem like very long ago we had one of our fun phone conversations. I shall miss those talks as well as the family photos that I looked forward to every Christmas She was special!
