    OBITUARY:
Charles Silvestre Albuquerque passed away on July 19, 2018, at the age of 88 years. A longtime resident of Charlotte, NC, and current resident of Atlanta, Charles was born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 18, 1930, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from New York University after serving his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Charles’ first career was as an insurance adjuster for Liberty Mutual, primarily in Charlotte. Having grown tired of the 9-to-5 business world in his late 40s, Charles began his second and final career as a self-employed rosarian after an initial, brief foray into starting a retail business known as Plant World. Charles served on the boards of numerous organizations including the Charlotte Rose Society and the Florence Crittenton Services of North Carolina. His charitable contributions included providing and maintaining a rose garden at Pinewood Elementary School, where several of his children attended elementary school. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Guthrie Albuquerque; son Michael Albuquerque and grandchildren David and Lauren; daughter Shelly Karapatakis (husband Steven) and grandchildren Anna Lise and Julia; daughter Deborah Sabates (husband Flourent Deniaud) and grandchildren Robert, Alex, and Will; daughter Janice Parsons (husband David) and grandchildren Michael, Nicholas and Kristin; daughter Pamela Bridges and grandchild Katherine; nephew Carl Albuquerque (partner Barbara Bodenstein) and great-niece Erin; Janis Albuquerque (husband Michael Fay); and Lynne Albuquerque and great-niece Allison Limberg. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, the former Margaret Antoinette Tally of Atlanta, and Manuel Silvestre Albuquerque Sr., of Portugal, and his brother Manuel Silvestre Albuquerque Jr. and his spouse, the former Delores Niedermeir. A celebration of Charles’ life will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, July 28, at Fisher Funeral Care, 3742 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Chamblee, GA 30341. Visitation with family will begin at 2 pm preceding the celebration service. Memorial donations in memory of Charles can be made to the Florence Crittenton Services of North Carolina, 1300 Blythe Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203, or online at http://www.fcsnc.org/giving-opportunities/donate-online/.

Mr. A lovingly cared for my roses from 1994 until Florent took over for him a couple of years ago. He was such a kind person and I always looked forward to our conversations about different rose matters. We inherited a rose garden when we moved in 1994 and that's when we got to know Mr. A. We moved 2 more times over the years and Mr. A planted a garden for us each time. He was such a hard worker. I am so sorry for your loss but I'm sure Mr. A is tending the rose gardens in Heaven.

Mr. A was such a dear, sweet, kind and lovely man. I feel fortunate that I knew him. He took care of my roses for many years. Whenever I saw him, he was always positive and upbeat even if he didn't feel the best. He had a good sense of humor and I liked his jovial spirit. I will miss him and his gentle ways, including how he treated my dog who liked him. He was admired and well liked by all. He talked about his wife and children and cared deeply for his family. I'm so sorry for your loss and I know this is a difficult time. My heartfelt condolences.

To the family, I would like to express my sincere condolence along with some words of encouragement. The Bible reports many instances of humans young, old, male and female who was brought back to life on earth. God hate death he views it as an enemy. (1 Corinthians 15:26) He has a yearning to conquer that enemy, to undo death by means of a resurrection. He longs to bring back those who are in his memory and to see them live on earth again. (Job 14:14, 15 please read) For additional information on this and many other Bible topics please visit www.jw.org

I like to express my deepest sympathy for your loss. It was never God’s intent that death should rule over mankind. - Romans 5:12; 1Corinthians 15:26, 55; He will do away with it and He has provided hope-as stated at John 5:28, 29. During this most painful time please find comfort from the scriptures.
