OBITUARY:
Mark McKibben Porter 1954-2017 (age 62) Mark Porter succumbed to a quick battle of cancer at hospice, surrounded by his loving wife and child Saturday, September 30th 2017. A native to Atlanta, Mark lived in Dunwoody, Georgia most of his days. He married the love of his life and highschool sweetheart, with whom he remained for the next 46 years. Living a laid-back life, all the while managing to teach his daughter how to do practical things such as changing car tires to choosing the right hammer and duct tape. Mark was a retired general contractor. Yet he wore many hats in his time from a coal miner, to a lumberjack, a small business owner and much more. He was a rare breed these days knowing how to do and fix just about anything from plumbing, electrical, cars, yards and more. This amazing man could build a house or car from the ground up. He was a humble man with a stoically adventurous side. He enjoyed gaming with his family, hunting and catching that next big Bass on a sunny day. Many could spot him sharing a beer in his red truck with Neal Bortz daily. Mark was a loyal friend to many with a compassionate heart and good manners. Mark will always be lovingly remembered by his wife Karen Porter, his only child Jenny Creasy, his sister Robin Porter Prater, his mother in-law Ila Kopeschka, and all the family and friends with whom hearts he touched. There will be no funeral or services as per the deceased wishes. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, do something kind for a stranger or donate to your favorite charity or cancer society. Close friends and Family will be invited to a celebration of this amazing man's life at a later date. (TBA)
